I moved back to my home town Pittsburgh in 2007 – even after experiencing life in several other cities first hand. In regards to web design, Pittsburgh PA is new to me. I have many clients in MA, VA, FL, TX and a few other states who have stayed with me despite all the moving around and now that I’m settled, wife and kids and all, its time to seek out and build a local client base.
Despite my childhood memories of hosing soot off the side of the house, Pittsburgh is no longer the polluted steel mill it’s reputation would lead you to believe. In the last 30 years Pittsburgh has transformed itself into the Eastern mecca of software and technology as well as many other industries such as healthcare, education, robotics, fashion, and finance. Carnegie Mellon is one of the leading technology centers in the world and when I studied software engineering at Colorado Tech. over half the text books were authored by CMU professors and alumni.

My latest realm of interest has been search engine optimization and internet marketing. I’ve always been aware of SEO but in retrospect I realize my previous understanding was flawed at one level or another. This interest grew from a desire to create websites that are valuable, to make myself more valuable, and to have a few more cards to put on the table when seeking out new clients. Experience has taught me that even the best looking website isn’t worth a penny if no one knows it is there. SEO and more specifically, driving targeted traffic is what brings value to a website, toss in a great design and you will have a happy client.

Having been born and raised in Pittsburgh there were many aspects to the place and its people I never noticed as much as I do now after spending the last 25 years living in other cities. There are a lot of trees here, three major rivers that converge at “The Point” . The Steelers I noticed, a lot. Boston may be big on their Red Sox but there is no other town that loves its football team the way they do in Pittsburgh.
One of the things that really threw me off was people actually allowing me to merge onto the highway without my having to pull some kind of stunt or maneuver. Ever seen Spinal Tap, the first moment of that movie is a scene I’ve experienced a thousand times, coming out of the Fort Pitt tunnel and entering Pittsburgh from the South hills. This place is definitely unique and I am stoked to continue down the Pittsburgh seo web design superhighway.
